Places and Monuments of Ancient Egyptian Civilisation (15 days)

Ancient Egyptian civilisation continues to stir great interest among history lovers as many of its secrets have yet to be revealed. Not only the art of building temples and pyramids, but also the basics of mathematics, astronomy and medicine are some of the most notable achievements of those times. Worshipping the ancient gods tells a never-ending story of finding everlasting youth and eternal life. Fortunately, Egyptian Pharaohs left behind many stories that continue to be told by their great monuments and many curious and enthusiastic lovers of history listen to them with great joy. This tour seeks to tell you many of these stories as we will visit most of the significant monuments of the ancient kingdom.

From Cairo you will move to Upper Egypt and first explore old Nubian temples while cruising on Lake Nasser. This includes the jewel of temples, Abu Simbel. The four-day cruise will end in Aswan just in time to visit the beautiful island temple of Philae. On the way from Aswan to Luxor you will visit the Kom-Ombo and Edfu temples. Then you will step into the ancient capital of Thebes, the world’s richest archaeological site which is slowly turning into an open air museum under new renovation plans. The old alley of the sphinx between the Luxor and Karnak temples is being restored and the vicinity of Karnak is being rebuilt to give more space to this unique monument. The temples of Karnak were built over a period of 1300 years and each ruler deserves credit for adding something new without destroying the old and thus creating the largest temple ever built. The Luxor temple explains more of the story of life on the East bank of the Nile. The West Bank holds other secrets. Tombs in the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the Hatchepsut Temple and Medinet Habu show the art of life after death. The Upper Egyptian part of the tour will end with a visit to Abydos and Dendara, two temples known as ancient pilgrimage sites.

Pilgrimage to Moses Mountain & Monastery of St. Catherine from Taba border crossing (Overnight Trip)

Transfer from Taba (border) to St. Catherine, assistance with hotel check-in. Early morning around 02.00 start the trip where you join the pilgrimage to the Moses Mountain, the birthplace of Ten Commandments. You will walk for about 2,5 hours to arrive to the top just in time for the magnificent view of the desert sunrise. After sunrise you will descend, have breakfast and then visit the Monastery of St. Catherine, known for many miracles. After the visit to the Monastery, you will return to your hotel for check-out. Transfer back to Taba (border).
